First Vowel

numerology backgroundThe first vowel in your name is important because it is like a lens through which you see the world.

First Vowel (A): The “A” sits in the East on the Medicine Wheel, and is a connection to the mental dimension of life. So, you are likely to have a quick mind. In general, you will tend to think about things before taking action. And when you process life experiences, it will generally be at the mental level first. “A” as the first vowel sometimes indicates an ability to be clairvoyant. The East is the direction where the sun rises. Its energy brings new beginnings. So, people with “A” as a first vowel, or with a predominance of this vowel in their name are often also adept at initiating new projects or stepping out in new directions in life – as long as they do not over-analyze things. “A” is also about purity. So, with “A” as the first vowel, there can also be a tendency to be a purist who looks at life in stark contrasts of right and wrong, good and bad, black and white. In other words, you might find within yourself a small tendency to judge people, things and events a little too quickly.

First Vowel (E): “E” sits in the South on the Medicine Wheel. The south is concerned with issues of the heart, relationship, and placement (what’s my place in the world, where do I fit?). The “E” as a first vowel helps you to be more expressive and suggests that your first interaction with the world around you is on a feeling level, and through relationships. This includes your relationship with yourself, with others, with your job, with the community, and with society and the world around you. We know our place in the world because of how we relate to other things in the world. So, the “E” as a first vowel tends to highlight this issue of finding your “place” in the world. The “E,” since it is connected with feelings, sometimes indicates that a person is naturally “clairsentient.” In other words, there is an ability to feel what others are feeling around them, an ability to receive information and insight first through feelings before processing these feelings at a cognitive level. ♦ People with an “E” as a first vowel are often concerned with what people think of them. They want people to “like” them, and will invest lots of energy to make this so – sometimes inappropriately giving too much of themselves to make it happen. If they perceive that somebody doesn’t like them, it can also cause emotional pain and suffering.

First Vowel (I): The “I” sits in the West on the Medicine Wheel, the direction of the physical world. This includes physical awareness, physical energy and health, and physical abundance and prosperity. As a first vowel, it helps you to be kinesthetic. So, you may process things on a physical level first. In other words, you may sense or experience things that happen around you in your body, or as part of your physical energy. You may also find that you are very instinctual. You are probably inclined to put ideas into action to create something practical.

First Vowel (O): The “O” sits in the North on the Medicine Wheel. The north is concerned with issues of teachability, storytelling, and guidance received from the ancestors, avatars and ancient masters. So, the “O” as a first vowel suggests that your first interaction with the world around you is on a spiritual level. It tends to make you “inner-directed.” It sparks a desire to know how things work at a fundamental level. But it also provides resources for the search because it helps you to be more intuitive and open to following inner guidance.

First vowel (U): The “U” stands at the center of the Medicine Wheel. It gives you a strong connection with the G_d-Source or Creator. With the “U” as first vowel, you carry your “center” with you. You also have the ability to connect with the potential possibilities of All-That-Is. This tends to make you expansive and, because of this, uncomfortable with boundaries and constraints.

First Vowel (Y): The “Y” is like the tree of life that stands in the center connecting the “up above” and the “down below.” It gives a natural connection with other realities and dimensions, and an ability to see alternative ways of doing things. There is an ability to bring through insight and inspiration and ground it by taking practical action.
